Version 1.1: seasons, nights and music that follows them
October 21, 2026
We have spent the last weeks making the abbey feel alive. Here is what changed in version 1.1.
For the eyes
- A living calendar. A game day lasts 15 minutes and a season half an hour, starting from your real season. Snow falls in winter, leaves in autumn, rain comes in spring, and the lake freezes over.
- Day and night. Dawn, day, evening and night, with a new moon and lit windows during the vigils.
- Brothers at their crafts. Every figure on the miniature stands where he works: the brickmaker by the kiln, the fisherman in his boat with nets and floats, the choir monks at prayer.
- New pencil-style art: twelve portraits, chronicle illustrations, building thumbnails, the west front with its rose window, ox carts, ducks on the water.
- The abbot’s charter at the end of the chronicle now carries a wax seal with the convent’s legend.
For the ears
- The music follows the calendar. At night it slows down and grows quieter; in winter you hear sparse notes over an organ drone; the choir joins in at the right moments.
Share your abbey
- A share card with a story: the name of the brother you just met, the season, the time of day and the year of your chronicle.
- A link to your abbot’s charter: friends open it and see your charter with the wax seal.
- How others decided: after a decision you see how many abbots chose the same (once enough players have voted).
- Before-and-after postcards for every era, to save or share.
- Days of the real calendar: on 20 August (St Bernard), 2 September (the Mariensee charter of 1258) and 8 September (the move to Chorin in 1273) the abbey marks the day with a small gift.
And more
- A short guided tour for new players (you can replay it any time with the “?” button).
- Tooltips on everything, also by tap on phones and by keyboard.
- Seasons now matter: in winter the fields rest and the brothers pray more.
- Consequence cards for the abbot’s decisions, so you see what each choice will change.
Thank you for playing. If you notice anything odd, write to [email protected].
