Version 1.9.0: The real history of the region

October 28, 2026

Since version 1.8.5 your abbey lives through the real history of the land around it.

Messengers with a choice

  • 1320, a new protector after the last Ascanian margraves; 1348, the man who says he is Margrave Waldemar; 1420, the war over the Uckermark; 1806, hay and straw for the French; 1831, cholera in the Mark.
  • The messenger comes in the morning and stands in the picture. A short card under the goal shows both answers, what each one does and whom it sends. If no answer comes by evening, a gentle choice is made for you, and the notice says so.

Great trials

  • 1432, the Hussites near Eberswalde; 1710, the plague in Prenzlau; 1997, sandbags for the dyke at Hohenwutzen.
  • Each brings a small goal for one game day, with its reward, and an honest end if it is not met. Your own people do the work: carriers, a watchman at the gate, a team at the dyke.

News from afar

  • The Landbook of 1375 and the draining of the Oderbruch between 1747 and 1753.

Every moment once in a chronicle

  • Each comes in its era and season and leaves a line with its own year in “Your chronicle” and a new chronicle page with its sources. The greatest have an echo later on. The chronicle now has 28 pages.
  • The facts come from Riedel’s Codex diplomaticus Brandenburgensis, the Neue and the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie, brandenburgikon (U. Tresp, F. Göse), F. Escher, R. Schmidt’s history of Eberswalde, LeMO of the Deutsches Historisches Museum, the State Chancellery of Brandenburg and the bpb. Where the sources do not agree or a detail is not confirmed, we leave it out.

Small improvements

  • The first time you come back after closing the game, one line says that your abbey waited for you: it lives only while you play.
  • The goal card names the next building within reach and when, for example “Fish ponds 4 in 1 min 20 s”.
  • A decision that pays at once says exactly how much before you choose.
  • On phones the game starts quietly: the music comes with your first tap at a soft volume, and the voices appear as subtitles until you turn them on in Settings.
  • When your first building reaches level 100, you can save or share a postcard of your abbey as it stands now.

Thank you for playing. If you notice anything odd, write to support@choringame.com.
