Version 1.6.1: Something to look after in every era
October 21, 2026
Since version 1.6.0 the abbey asks a little more thought of you, in every era.
Something to look after
- Winter stores (eras I–II at Chorin). In winter the fields sleep and the brothers live on the granary. Lay in grain and fish before the frost (half price in autumn): with full stores the brothers work on through the winter, with empty ones they slow down. The granary on the miniature fills and empties with them, and the music grows thinner when they run low.
- The picturesque ruin (era III). Gilly’s goal now counts only while the monument stands between 40 and 70 %: half fallen, half standing. Painters set up their easels on the slope while it is so.
- The rescue (eras III–IV). Repairs also cost grain for the masons, and saving the church needs the monument at 75 % or better.
- Visitors (era V). Visitors and concerts wear the old walls; repairs are paid in silver. When the monument is fully repaired, the bells ring.
Tasks and pace
- Tasks now follow the state of your abbey: build, take in a brother, welcome a guest, lay in stores, repair, obtain a charter, fill an office. The reward is what your goal needs most, and it grows a little while the task waits.
- Quick reflexes no longer race you through the eras: a player who catches every pilgrim is only a little faster than a calm one, and the later eras no longer pass in minutes. No era starts with its first goal already paid for.
- The goal button is honest: when the goal is more than an hour and a half away, it names the slowest resource and where it comes from instead of a distant time.
- Under every goal, one line tells you what comes next.
A calmer start
- A new game opens with one paragraph of the prologue; the whole prologue waits in the Chronicle.
- The tutorial shows four cards: the bell, the goal, the prayer and “Ora et labora”. The full tour of every tab is behind the “?” button.
- A new game starts in the morning, and the first pilgrim waits until the tutorial is over.
- Chronicle pages now open one by one through era I instead of all at once.
Notices
- Every notice stays seven seconds, counted only while you can see it. Goal progress is announced at 50 and 90 % only.
- After a break, one notice tells you what is waiting: finished tasks, buildings you can raise, new pages, charters.
Fixes from playing on a phone
- On iPhone the music no longer disappears after switching apps, and the “new version” bar no longer appears every time.
- Signing out, loading a save and leaving the game ask first; syncing and resetting say when they are done.
- The account dot shows the cloud save: green synced, gold waiting, red error.
- The charter is sent by e-mail only once per tap. A charter link now opens its own page with the charter and an invitation, and the charter no longer shows a chronicle number.
- Spring floods, storms and other events are now visible on the miniature. A woman’s voice shows a woman’s portrait. The next hour of prayer has its bell. The work calls stay quiet at night, and nobody rows out on a frozen lake.
- There is one game speed for everyone.
A note on counting
To see where new players stop, the game now also counts, anonymously and once per device, 1, 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes of play and a return on a later day. Nothing that identifies you is sent; the privacy policy lists every step.
Thank you for playing. If you notice anything odd, write to support@choringame.com.
